For more specific information call us at 214-785-2347, we would be more than happy to speak with you and answer any questions you may have.

How Much Mold is Too Much?

Due to the fact that even small amounts of mold can cause health issues any amount of mold in your home or place of business is “too much.”

The larger problem here is the fact that if you find mold growing in your home or business, even if it is a small amount, it usually indicates that there is hidden mold elsewhere.

If you find any amount of mold in your home or business you should have your property tested for hidden toxic mold ASAP.

Does the Type of Mold Matter?

Some molds produce mycotoxins some don’t. However, all molds produce spores which can cause health problems even if they aren’t toxic. This is especially true for those who are allergic to them.

As a general rule all mold should be removed from your home or business regardless of the species. While not all molds are as infamous as black mold, they can also be dangerous as well.

What Mold is the Most Dangerous?

As previously stated black mold tends to be the type that gives people the most problems regarding health issues. However, practically all species of mold can be dangerous under the right circumstances, especially if someone in your home or place of business has an allergy to it.

Due to this fact, you should have all mold removed from your home ASAP, not just black mold.

What Causes Mold to Grow in Buildings?

The biggest cause of toxic hidden mold in homes and businesses is moisture. All mold must have moisture to grow though some grow better in dark areas as well.

Sources of moisture that can cause mold to grow in your home or business are:

  • - Bathing and showering
  • - Plumbing leaks and roof leaks
  • - Humidifiers
  • - House plants
  • - Cooking and dishwashing

Can I Remove the Mold Myself?

Removing mold is a complicated process. In most cases just spraying/scrubbing the area with bleach or soap and water isn’t enough. The reason for this is the fact that even when you kill the mold spores are still left behind and will continue to grow if there is a source of moisture.

Another issue is that, as previously stated, visible mold is many times an indication of hidden mold. Before you even think about trying to remove the mold you should have your home or business thoroughly tested for hidden toxic mold.

If you have found mold in your home or business schedule an inspection ASAP. The sooner your home or business is mold free the better.
